Adobe Acrobat was the first software to support Adobe Systems' Portable Document Format (PDF). It is a family of software, some commercial and some free of charge.

The Acrobat Reader program (now just called Adobe Reader) is available as a no-charge by clicking the link below, and allows the viewing and printing of PDF files. It is a major component of the Adobe Engagement Platform, and is widely used as a standard format to display text with a clean visual appeal. Several other PDF-editing programs allow some minimal editing and adding of features to documents, and come with other modules including a printer driver to create PDF files.

Google Picasa ™

Picasa is easy to use and it offers many simple effects such as color enhancement, red eye reduction and cropping. Other features include slide shows, printing and image timelines. Pictures can be organized into albums.

Albums can be organized into collections. Pictures can be rearranged in albums by drag and drop. Images can be resized and exported for external use, be e-mailed or printed. There is also an integrated facility to order photo prints. Picasa does not overwrite photos when changes are made. Instead, it lists all the changes made and puts the list in a separate file. Whenever the image is opened in Picasa it will check the list and apply the changes that the list tells it to. If you open the photo in any other program, though, the image will not have the changes applied to it. To see the changes when using the photo in other programs you must 'export' the photo. In the latest version of Picasa (Picasa2), a new feature has been added to allow users to save changes made to the pictures in Picasa by overwriting the actual picture file. However, a backup version of the original picture is made and saved in a hidden folder named "Backup", which is located within the same folder as the original picture. Google Video ™

Google Video is a free Google service that allows anyone to upload video clips to Google's web servers as well as make their own media available free of charge or through Google Video Store for a cost that they can set. Once uploaded, the video file is saved as a .gvi file under the "Google Videos" folder in "My Videos" and reports of the video(s) details are logged and stored in the user account. The report sorts and lists the number of times that each of the users videos have been viewed and downloaded within a specific time frame. These range from the previous day, week, month or the entire time that the videos have been there for. Totals are calculated and displayed and the information can be downloaded into a spreadsheet format or printed out. Users can search and play videos directly from Google Video, as well as download video files and remotely embed them on their webpages.
